Paul G Oxborough

Paul Oxborough was born in Minnesota, USA in 1965. He began his studies at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design before entering a four-year apprenticeship at the Atelier Lessuer; a rigorous program that adheres to a stringent French academic tradition.

Since his first New York solo exhibition in 2000, Oxborough has been the subject of numerous articles and reviews in such publications as ArtNews, Art & Antiques, Southwest Art, and CNN. His awards include First Place in the Artist's Magazine Portrait Competition, several Awards of Excellence from Communication Arts magazine and the President's Award from the American Society of Portrait Artists. This year Oxborough submitted a work entitled 'Portrait of Javier' into the BP Portrait Award. This work was accepted and exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery this summer and will travel to Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens and The Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh later this year.
He frequently travels with his family throughout Europe and the United States for inspiration. The range of Oxborough's subject matter seems unlimited and varies from intimate interiors illuminated by flickering candles to laconic landscapes drenched in the noonday sun to a child's face touched by the first rays of morning light.

Oxborough last showed in London in 1999 at the Albemarle Gallery - a collective focusing on American Figurative Painting and in collaboration with the Eleanor Ettinger Gallery New York. Since then he has had several sell-out shows in New York which has delayed his London debut solo exhibition. The gallery is delighted to reaffirm its collaboration and friendship with the Eleanor Ettinger Gallery, a relationship which has facilitated the exchange of our most sought after artists to British and American collectors.
